Special Morning in Canada

My parents, on the other hand, were in much more opportunistic mood than I was at the time. They told me and my brother once that if we were allowed to move to Canada at once as a family, we would have had more opportunities there than in the United States as far as working, traveling, and living in general. It was difficult for my father to feed the family of four by himself and my mother always felt guilty that she could not help him financially. Therefore, they started to seriously investigate their options as far as leaving the U.S. for a different country and obtaining a stable status there. Soon they found out that Canada had a very welcoming immigration policy and they had applied for immigration. They were very serious, but I was mad of my cheap kid’s slippers. I wished I had gotten slippers on Christmas! Early in the morning of the twenty fifth of the December, my brother and I run madly downstairs to look for Christmas presents. We did not sleep the whole night either due to being utterly tired after moving or due to over-Christmas-excitement or both. It was about eight in the morning when we came down from our bedrooms and it was rather cold in the apartment. I shivered and opened the curtains. Living room’s windows were thoroughly covered with curious frost ornaments and few strings of sun could come through them. The sun light that could penetrate the snow shield of our windows, contributed to the most beautiful light harmony that there is – white unrepeatable shapes of frost with touches of blue, yellow, red, and green. But the cold interrupted my attention to this natural performance and reminded of the selfish himself once again. I rubbed my feet one of another and thought that it would be a great idea to have one of those TV-advertised warm fluffy slippers for Christmas to keep my feet warm on the mornings like this one. Then I ran to help my brother to look for presents and for some time forgot about my wish for a pair of slippers.
